I've further messaged abuse@webhosting.com (SBC) and talked with their
tech support about this problem. So far NOTHING. I guess I am
"collateral damage" in the war on spam. Next I'm going to try to get
my ISP, Prodigy, to ignore my IP that is on the spews list. I suspect
that it will take me many hours and lots of run-around before I can
contact someone at Prodigy (also an SBC company) who knows anything
about this. *sigh*

When will my e-mail work again?

Micheal

That's right. I refused to initially believe some information that I've come across that suggested this possibility, but I don't think there's any doubt anymore. This just seemed to be too bizarre to be true, but my remaining doubts are quickly vanishing... It doesn't look that the entire Borg is affected. It looks like some departments in Pacbell use Joe Jared's consolidated spam list, and some time within the last couple of weeks Joe added blacklist.spambag.org to his consolidated zone. spambag.org is my personal list of spam-friendly networks whose customers have been attacking my mailboxes, even after I complained to their network provider many times. See http://www.spambag.org for more information. Right now, blacklist.spambag.org has all of Pacbell's IP address space listed due to their refusal to shut down their cc-inc/pcmall spambags, who are now attacking my mail servers on their daily basis. They used to do their spam runs twice a week, looks like they're up to once a day, now. But that's a story for another day. The end result is that some Pacbell's customer support mail from their paying customers is bouncing. Well, you tell me what the following poor soul is struggling to tell me: # test from--- # http://relays.osirusoft.com/cgi-bin/rbcheck.cgi?addr=216.102.235.194 # with result shown below indicates that our mail server is blocked by # you...our server is just # re-set to block relay....can you retest and assist us in remove it from # your list so we can start sending email to pacbell.net support site? As an aside, all the cl00bies who are piling up in my INBOX seem to believe that they are listed because they had an open relay, which they closed, but that's another story for another day. The funniest part of this is that I believe that this has been going on for at least a few weeks, and it appears that nobody at pacbell.net is even aware of this. If this doesn't tell you how utterly clueless, and void of intelligent life, that place is, I don't know what would. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Peaks/5799/GPGKEY.txt iD8DBQE8GUXS3ejdWUS0ltARAs6sAJsFsO51cmmHyYt3RysOPC1iGBx73gCeIP4K GD5JXGKe5VfKuRgiWIw31zo= =b5Lb -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
